ASSAULT - Briefing
Situation: Intelligence has identified this village as a hotbed for hostile activity and the likely source of IEDs used in recent attacks. The local population is a mix of insurgents, sympathizers and pro-democracy civilians. The sprawling village borders a highway which will be used increasingly in the coming months for friendly troop and supply transport. It is imperative that the insurgency here is thwarted with as little negative impact as possible on civilian infrastructure and that any IED related activity be eliminated.
Rules of Engagement: Use appropriate force against positively identified enemy combatants only. Minimize damage to local infrastructure. Be advised that civilian refugees may be present in contested area.
Mission: Recon the area and locate the primary IED cache while reporting any suspicious objects or activity, then proceed to extraction point as directed by Sierra Two. Engage hostile forces in accordance with Rules of Engagement below.
Enemy: Insurgents armed with assault rifles.
Friendly: One squad from the 172nd Sep. Infantry BDE and one squad from the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Terrain: Small village area with low hills.
