Article by Snoop - August 3, 2010, 12:38 pm

I am happy to let you know that the Server Signatures are back online and ready for you to use!  Unfortunatly they only work for 2.8x series as I haven't had the time to look into AA3 yet.  The signatures are unique unlike other server signatures by mass gaming networks, AAC's are as dynamic as they get and totaly America's Army themed!  With a great array of custom backgrounds for each map, these sigs show your server status in style. They are designed to be short and attractive...there is no need for clutter, if you want to find out more information on the server you can click on the image and it will take you to the best game spectator around.

Some interesting changes have happened in the Western scene.  Leading the board at the top for 4 weeks was IceNine, but lost their 1st place title after the Semi-Finals in the UGL Season. The final two teams in UGL are now the leaders in the west, over the past 8 weeks both teams have slowly crept their way to the top. No doubt Inevitable Defeat has earned their 1st place title with Just Cause Project right behind them.

Top Western Teams

This past week there has been some changes to the WLC.  One addition to the the ranking system is forfeit wins, before some teams would earn way to many points for not even having to play.  We have changed that now, the team that shows up will get their average Points Per Match (PPM) plus 2 for showing up...the 2 points awards you for being the good team and showing up, if you don't show up you automatically lose 2 points.  The theory is you won't earn much more for a FFW since you don't have to do much other than show up.  If anyone has any problems with that let me know, its open for change at any time...

Some new features where also put into the system.  A bit more team stats where added today, if you look at your team's profile you will see some new graphs and a few more bits of information (LINK).  Its kind of nice to see how each team does week by week in PPM and Ranking.  Later on (after 10 or 20 weeks), I will be awarding some AAC Awards to certain clans based on their match stats to add to the awards system. Also the Predictions system will get some work done on it next week, adding the map to be played and some stats (top predictors :)

Comments and Suggestions are welcome!

Im sure most of you may already know that America's Army has been around for almost 7 years now, the AA series kicked off its first release in the summer of 2002 under the tag America's Army Recon.  Since then they have fired out 27 updates adding 42 new maps with hopes of AA3 in the near future.  America's Army has had its ups and downs, many "old school" players have seen their share of changes over the years...

It seems as time went on, the strong AA community has become something unlike it was before the 2.0 series.  Old time gamers quit, other players just stopped playing...but the biggest is the version spread that came when Mac OSX support was dropped back in 2.5 that left hundreds behind. According to many players, 2.5 was one of the most stable and liked versions. Redsack.com that has been doing a number of statistics for America's Army, below is the AA population spread across a few different areas.

Redsack AA Version Spread
Version Servers Players
2.8.4.0 1709 2000-3000
2.8.3.0 25 100-200
2.8.0 11 10-20
2.6.0 26 30-50
2.5.0 52

100-150

There is lots of activity in 2.5 still, only in the past year has it slowed down with several major clans moving to 2.8. Many players are actually downgrading back to 2.5 just for the simple and fun game play, they have made it easier to get going with this old version by running 2.5 Assist (Deployment Client)..players can download this safe application to get them up to speed with AAv2.5 in minutes.  Besides the player activity, there is even a few communities and leagues going on. DRAAT is a really handy game tracker and community, DirectAction is a new league.  Then a few individuals took it apon themselves to develop some great programs & maps to make things interesting and help people out... 2.5 Assist and mAAp Pack Project.

You Predict!
CommandView Comments (5)
Article by Snoop - April 16, 2009, 2:46 pm

"You Predict" gives you a chance to be psychic...predict the future out comes. In traditional form people just post up "Team1 > Team2", with this new feature you can do that and more. You get the chance to see who is all playing...what the community predicts...and in the end, see if you were right! After the matches are played, the following week the results will be added and we can see how correct the community was. The system will also keep track of how many match predictions you get right, so you can see how good you really are at predicting!

[PREDICT THIS WEEKS MATCHES!]

Also a new update to the commenting section has happened, a new "sexier" layout has risen from the uglyness of the previous one.  I also fixed up my bbcode function to make links, linkable. As you can see there are now little icons. I will set something up so you can change your icon for the portal comments when i get some more time.

Enjoy!

AA Grafix Pak

Article by Snoop - April 13, 2009, 1:01 am

Here at AAC we just finished mixin up a new feature for the AA Community...we finally got the graphics pack put together and released. At the started of the AAC project we decided to get some new images from AA...we were was getting tired of the old "used & abused" images floating around the web. We are sure many of you can agree on that, we've been using the same images for to many years. A few months ago Snoop set out to gather a bunch of new game shots from all the maps. Finally he got the time to share them with the community guys...

The AA Grafix Pak contains over 300 unique screenshots taken in high resolution 1024x768 or 1680x1050. All free of charge with no watermarks at all. We are sure we can all agree that the designing community of America's Army deserves some new material in circulation.

Check the download page out HERE.
This took a lot of time to complete, the only thing we ask of you is not to redistribute/claim them as your own.

One more thing, with these new images there is bound to be some nice artwork done up. It would be great to see what you can do with these images...so stop by the forums and show your work! GFX Thread

Enjoy!

Western Standings Update #2
CommandView Comments (5)
Article by Snoop - April 10, 2009, 7:05 pm

Well its been a few weeks since we released the western scoreboard and its time for an update. Now that we have a better system done up we will update it weekly after all the previous weeks are finished. In the past few weeks there have been some big changes in the west, the overRated clan took a loss to Version 3 dropping them to 5th on the Top List. How ever the Version 3 team took a hard fall as well after a few losses in both leagues putting them at 12th.  The two Open teams, Clutch Gaming and eXtreme Fidelity are still sitting in the Top 10 list at 9th and 10th. Severe Insomnia went from 15th to 7th after a few great wins, Just Cause Project jumped up to 6th after two great wins against defiance and syNdicate Gaming. Final Destination now appears on the Top 5 list just after Inevitable Defeat (unchanged). United Gamers is put into 2nd place after beating Team Vigilantes 9 - 4 in a great match.  After a well faught week and some good matches, IceNine comes out on top...IceNine has eleven wins and one defeat competing in both TWL and UGL.

Clans That Have Forfeit (more then once): Negative Affects, Lost Cause, Non-Sense, work !n Progress. Deployable Independent Combat Element, .Zoologico., OPFOR, Tbag by Request, 7th Marine Regimen, Team 2.5
It is very sad to see so many Forfeits, i hope this changes in future seasons.
