Player Spotlight: Spanker (Mediocrity)

Mediocrity is a team of many things. First it was serious gamers putting in the hours to get to the top. Then it became kind of a joke for them at the top.. resorting to hacks, keylogging people, jokes, etc etc. They have been a hell of a team to watch through the years. They ruined TWL's website, keylogged and loaded cheats on a top European gamer (during a match), hacking in matches, having Roland aka Braindamage on the team, and just starting drama everywhere. But one thing remains certain about Mediocrity.. they are a top gaming team when they try. With the CEVO season nearing arrival I had a quick interview with one of the games best players, and one of Mediocrity's top players as well. His name is Brett Hicks, otherwise known as Spanker. Here it is!

Some have known him as a cheater, some know him as that guy who flashed you a lot, but now many know him as the man who spurred the revival of Americas Army. His name is Joseph L. King Jr, otherwise known as Noofy. He is a 24 year old hailing from Detroit, Michigan. I recently had a chance to talk to him and talk about himself and his mission to revive AA. Heres how it went..

Seeing as my personal carecup is currently running out of fuel and that I was due to do something that wouldn't piss off everybody for once, combined with a serious lack of news to publish at the front of AACommand, I thought I'd share some of my worries regarding how things in AA are at the moment, here's a run down of how things currently look like for America's Army, including the issues encountered over the different leagues, communities and so on. It might open the eyes of a few of you and who knows some might want to apply for admin positions etc.

America's Army 2 - Competition

Article by financial - July 5, 2010, 11:47 am

The Americas Army resurgence is a self made movement started by Americas Army competition players that want to see one of their favorite games come back to the spotlight. Throughout Americas Army's history there have been many memorable moments, such as the 2008 Chicago LAN tournament. With the recent release of AA 3.0 Americas Army has slowly been dwindling in numbers with players and teams leaving every day. But, recently a few teams and players have been getting people that have quit to come back.
Now every day new players and teams are popping up all over the place, people that have just started playing as well as people that played in some of the biggest tournaments and matches are all showing up at AA's front door ready to play.

With the recent announcement of CEVO picking up Americas Army, and with XPL doing such a great job people are becoming interested in this game again. E-Rev (http://www.e-rev.tv) has been one of the entities to take notice, and offer their support for AACommand, and the Americas Army competition scene. This is a big step forward for this game and its players.
For 2010, and 2011 we will be looking forward to bringing a healthy amount of new players to Americas Army. There are four leagues that are hosted (or getting started) TWL, Cevo, XPL and PGL. At this moment the TWL, and XPL seasons are wrapping up and Cevo and PGL are looking forward to opening their doors to Americas Army. Cevo is one of the most well known computer competition league there is with a revered anti-cheat and prizes for winners in leagues which is always a good incentive to play.

The veteran league TWL is losing popularity but with their addition of some admins that have played the game in the past and know a thing or two about the game hopefully we can see a comeback. XPL is the most popular league for AA at this point in time with about 30 teams and counting.
AAcommand hopes to bring pubbers and competition players together in a friendly environment that is both open to noobs, and interesting enough for the oldest of old-school players. AACommand links you to an IRC client for easy to find scrims, hooks you up with e-rev live AA Matches and much more.

So take a look and register your account today, and please do read the following interview with one of the founder of this revival campaign, financial who's one of AACommand head admin of the "revival campaign" and E-Rev.TV America's Army match caster.
