Article by 12ampage - March 27, 2009, 9:55 pmIGN Talks About AA 3.0

As the GDC conference comes to an end we are seeing a few more articles trickle through with information about AA 3.0.  This article from IGN gives a little more information into the 3.0 ROE system.  Part of the ROE is that all soldiers should treat wounded opfor as humans, meaning it is your duty to save as many lives as possible on both your team and the opfor.  If you come across an injured (incapacitated) enemy soldier rather than finishing the soldier off you are supposed to heal the soldier.  Healing an incapacitated opfor mutes his voice and removes his from the battlefield.  I dont want to judge the system before i play it but i'm little curious how this system is going to work and how it is going to affect the flow of gameplay.  Anyways, enjoy the article and be thankful for all the information we've received this week.

Article by wh!z - March 26, 2009, 3:32 pmTWL Winter '09 | Week Five Predictions

Week 5 of TWL presents us with one of the most popular competition maps in AA. Urban Assault is characterized by quick rounds, fast objective pushes and passive objective holds alike this is a map where were everything matters. Team work, set nades, spam shots, and quick reflexes are all facets of the jewel of victory. Ua is also used as one of the two overtime maps season after season and as such teams must be good at it in order to succeed. This week is very important for the standings since division one has a 4 way tie for first seed between v3 inters, IceNine., iD, and vi. Each of the aforementioned teams only has one loss witch will make this week and next week real nail biters. Division two on the other hand shows oR as basically having a guaranteed spot in the playoffs with a few other teams vying for second seed. Now let us move on to the predictions.

Article by Snoop - March 26, 2009, 6:23 amAAC's Western League Coverage

Welcome to AAC's Western League Coverage. The WLC project is dedicated to covering all major leagues in North America. Competition coverage in the west has become very thin, we want to change that. Our goal with the WLC Project is to keep the competitive player in the groove with league standings, predictions, scoreboards and much more.

Top Ranked Clans
One of the major facets of this project is the scoreboard. A list of clans ranked on their competition skills and records. We designed a system to grade each match, giving out points based on skill level, the score, win / loss ratio and how much of a win it was. So basically if you play against a crappy team you won’t earn as many points, but if you play against a good team you will gain more points. We designed our own algorithm to better evaluate clans rather then the simple 3 Point Win - 1 Point Loss system. How ever the whole system is still in Beta testing with UGL Season 2 and TWL Winter 09 Intermediate being the only included statistics.

Article by 12ampage - March 25, 2009, 2:26 pm2 New Reviews of AA3.0 from GDC

With the Game Developers Conference going on in San Francisco we have seen a large assortment of new information and reviews about AA3.0.  This latest review says that "Aside from some of the cosmetic issues, America's Army 3 is shaping up to be quite a solid shooter. The developers listened to their fans and tried to create a game that answered all of the issues of their first two outings. Add the amazing sound, the details of ricochet too the versatile Unreal Engine 3 graphics and you have a game with enormous potential."

This is one of the more interesting reviews i've read so far.  Not only does it give us more insight into 3.0 features it also says whats wrong with the game in its current beta build.  I think this article goes to show that the release of 3.0 is still a ways away, but that the developers are creating a very strong foundation for a great game.  If the developers put as much effort into fixing some of the current problems as they have into creating some of the other amazing features I think we will have a good game on our hands.

Article by 12ampage - March 25, 2009, 12:42 amGameSpot Review of AA 3.0 at GDC

Along with the release we saw early today GameSpot.com has released some more information about AA3 at GDC.  This article covers a lot of the same informatino that has been covered in past articles but also brings more clarifcation on some exciting features in AA 3.0.  One of these exciting features in the ability to slide from a sprint to a crouch position and dive from a sprint to a prone position.  This is a feature that the game has been needing for years and should fill the apetite of both the competitive community and the realism crew.  I just hope that the menauvers have been implemented well and will not give players the opportunity to exploit the movments.  Accompaning the article are several new great looking screenshots.  With each of these releases we are getting closer and closer to the release, i just hope that AA 3.0 is able to live up to all the hype that it is creating.
