Article by Snoop - April 21, 2009, 7:20 pmFinal.Destination Takes Gold!

Finally the TWL 2009 Winter Intermediate League has come to an end. After a long faught season, Final Destination came out on top, finishing with a 6-1-1 to make a total of 21 points. The runner up was United Gamers' AA Division with 5-2-1 and 19 points. For 3rd place it was a close one, both teams went 5-2-0 with 17 points but iceNine had a higher round win percentage (64%) and overRated had (58%).  So we feel iceNine should receive 3rd.

Over all it was a good season with some unexpected changes. Last week we released the "You Predict" feature that gives you the chance to guess the who will win each match, 26 people guessed UG would win and 18 people thought fd would win...better luck next time community lol. We would like to thank all the teams for comming out and putting a good effort in and we hope to see you in the next season!

Article by Snoop - April 20, 2009, 2:55 amShots from the Alley

From previous screenshots released we heard about a map called "Alley". This new map looks to be in a CQC style that contains sort of a Urban/Rummage look to it. The four screenshots display a few different scenes in the map that raised some questions from gamers... "is this just another camping map". With all the bushes and tight alley ways, this could very well be the case...but at first glance it also looks like a map that could contain a lot of fast paced fire fights and interesting battles.  What ever it is, it looks interesting. And I'd like to see more!

Article by Snoop - April 18, 2009, 6:23 pmESL - North America Possible?

After very popular "CAL" changed owners, everything has gone "tits up". Firing all the remaining staff and closing the doors without further notice, the CAL Team left gamers standing outside in the cold.  The NA competition scene is very small at the moment, currently there are just the two (TWL & UGL) leagues running and gamers are wanting more. Last week discussion was brought up about opening up a North American counterpart to the very popular ESL EU.  The ESL league is a very trusted and respected organization in east, European gamers have enjoyed the ladders and cups put on by ESL for the past few years.

"If there will be enough members and people that are responsible to run the section I don't see a problem why we shouldn't have it here as well."

- ESL Admin Kuchcio

ESL North American admin, Kuchcio, figures that the America's Army ESL portion could extend its reach to the North American crowd if there is enough attraction to it. The ESL team has begun discussion on this matter and we hope to hear back from there. Nothing is for sure as of yet, but if teams start signing up and show that they would like to compete...things will move much faster. But whats your thoughts?...will your team compete?

Article by Snoop - April 16, 2009, 2:46 pmYou Predict!

"You Predict" gives you a chance to be psychic...predict the future out comes. In traditional form people just post up "Team1 > Team2", with this new feature you can do that and more. You get the chance to see who is all playing...what the community predicts...and in the end, see if you were right! After the matches are played, the following week the results will be added and we can see how correct the community was. The system will also keep track of how many match predictions you get right, so you can see how good you really are at predicting!

[PREDICT THIS WEEKS MATCHES!]

Also a new update to the commenting section has happened, a new "sexier" layout has risen from the uglyness of the previous one.  I also fixed up my bbcode function to make links, linkable. As you can see there are now little icons. I will set something up so you can change your icon for the portal comments when i get some more time.

Enjoy!

Article by Snoop - April 15, 2009, 12:56 pmAAO Daily Frag Video Contest

AA Command has recently partnered up with the very popular "AAO Daily" (www.eu.aao-daily.com). AAO Daily is the main English speaking community in Europe, much like AAC, their goals are to make the community a better place.  The site houses an active news portal (with great EU competition coverage), league standings, a toplist much like ours...and on top of that a very active board. Its just a great place to check out! We look forward to cooperating more with AAO Daily, hopefully making the community a better place.

For the past month gamers have been hitting the servers with guns blazing trying to reach the deadline for AAO Daily's Frag Video Contest. The contest was a great idea, something that raises the profile of not only competition to the AA public but also gets AA out there onto such websites as youtube, wegame etc that will allow more people to see how good this game is through some great action footage. On the 13th the tapes were released and the public has a chance to vote on them. So head over to AAo Daily and vote on your favorite frag video...there are some pretty sweet videos!
